Boston Children's Hospital is Hiring a Media Relations Coordinator Near Boston, MA

Job Summary
The Media Relations Coordinator works with the Media Relations Manager to support and implement a proactive storytelling and communications plan that promotes Boston Children's Hospital's extensive research, patient journey, and clinical care across the enterprise. In this role at one of the world’s leading pediatric academic/research hospitals, the Media Relations Coordinator will support the department's media and communications efforts.
This Media Relations Coordinator will:
  • Work with the Media Relations Manager to support and help execute proactive media relations efforts to respond to and track media inquiries for the team.
  • Create a daily and weekly email distribution that includes all hospital clips and other market and healthcare news to the entire hospital.
  • Write social media copy for team’s news Twitter handle, track media clips and run monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
  • Work with senior members of the team on crafting pitches for local stories.
  • Upload patient HIPAA consents in digital asset management system.
  • Write press releases, talking points, interview background materials, and award submissions.
  • Manage content for the digital newsroom.
  • Help Identify media opportunities based on the current news cycle
  • Build relationships with marketing colleagues and departments across the enterprise.
  • Assist with the preparation of briefing materials.
  • Coordinate award submissions for priority publications
  • Monitor media coverage and distribute daily reports and timely updates to key stakeholders
  • Prepare quarterly and yearly analytics reporting.
  • Maintain editorial calendars, press release pipelines, media lists, and coverage databases
To qualify, you must have:
  • BA degree in Public Relations or related field plus a minimum of 2 years related experience in journalism, internal corporate communications, marketing communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization and demonstrate the ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Demonstrated writing skills and strong technical skills, with the ability to develop proficiency in specific software programs as required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Some experience with media relations skills including , news judgment, writing for public audiences, project coordination and web content management.
  • Media relations monitoring, tracking and analyzing software.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
